| Diana Crain has been a porcelain artist since 1973. She was one of the first potters in the San Francisco Bay Area to produce a line of porcelain handmade dinnerware. Stoneware clays were at their peak but the pure white color of the porcelain clay inspired her to design a line of more formal dinnerware sold at Gumps Department store in SF. While producing dinnerware, she began to develop her art pieces in colored porcelains. She made colors by adding commercial glaze stains to the clay itself and again pioneered a new look in porcelain. The wall vases are a culmination of years of producing decorative colored porcelain platters, inlaid porcelain quilts, vases, wall hangings, jewelry, and dinnerware. The vases are the painter combined with the potter in what we see as an exciting new look. They are an old idea made new! Her wall vases will add whimsy and a spash of color to any home or office. Along with selling her colored porcelain and low fire glazed wall vases in galleries nationwide, Diana teaches classes at her ceramics school weekly, conducts weekend workshops and serves gourmet meals at her Diana’s Art Farm in Petaluma CA.
