| Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, Julie Cox Hamm worked as a graphic designer after moving to Dallas in 1980. She loves to paint details into her silk pieces while allowing the silk to reveal its own ebb and flow. She finds that the “mistakes” that happen become the challenges that make her paintings even more interesting. Julie chooses to paint in a fantasy world, combining the seen and unseen worlds, into a dreamlike image. She is constantly inspired by her natural and rustic surroundings. She collects feathers, leaves, plants and wildflowers from each season and takes long walks in the woods. Her studio is near my home in the countryside outside of Dallas where she has lived for 25 years with her husband and many animal friends. |
