| Marissa Motto sees laughter as the most important element in her artwork. She tries to evoke humor with puns and visual imagery, and brings vibrant color to her work adding a feeling of whimsy with a touch of “Alice in Wonderland”. Marissa's roots are in figurative sculpture and watercolor. She thinks of each piece as a sculpture and glazes with bold colors to dramatize the form. She begins production by creating a prototype of solid clay. Then, she makes a mold and slip casting the form, using a white earthenware clay body. She meticulously glaze each piece using a wide variety of under glazes. Her pottery is then finished with a clear, food-safe glaze. |
