| Sarena Mann has worked in papier – mache and other media for over 35 years. She studied sculpture at the University of New Mexico, as well as with independent artists. In the early 1970s she traveled to explore the traditions of sculptural and figurative art in Asia. In Sarena's mobiles and figurative sculpture materials and designs will change but the communication of beauty and human spirit in handworked art will remain the same. Studio 2600 carries the original flying woman which includes kites, flowers, swings, umbrellas, butterflies and ribbons. Theirs is a dance of lightness and joy. The fun- and spirit-filled flying women of Air Craft have been the mainstay of Sarena's work for 35 years Sarena creates paper mache mobiles from wire, foil, paper, and fabric. She starts with a wire armature and build the figures with paper and fabric. This is a many step process and each piece is one of a kind. |
